1. Energy Efficiency: Proper weather stripping helps to seal any gaps between the window sash and frame, preventing drafts and air leaks. 2. Comfort: Nobody likes feeling a cold draft in their home during the winter months. By weather stripping your Jeld-Wen casement windows, you can keep your home cozy and draft-free, making it a more pleasant living environment for you and your family.

3. Protection from the Elements: Weather stripping not only helps to keep your home comfortable, but it also protects it from the elements. By sealing any gaps, you can prevent water, snow, and ice from entering your home and causing damage.

4. Noise Reduction: If you live in a busy area with lots of traffic or other sources of noise, weather stripping your Jeld-Wen casement windows can help to reduce the amount of noise that enters your home, creating a quieter and more peaceful living environment.

Types of Weather Stripping for Jeld-Wen Casement Windows

There are several types of weather stripping available for Jeld-Wen casement windows, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Some of the most common types include:

1. Adhesive-backed foam tape: This type of weather stripping is easy to install and is generally quite effective at sealing gaps. However, it may not be as durable as other options and may need to be replaced more frequently.

2. V-strip (tension seal): V-strip weather stripping is a durable and effective option for sealing gaps around casement windows. It is made from a flexible material, such as vinyl or metal, that forms a V-shape when compressed. This type of weather stripping is typically installed along the sides and top of the window sash.

3. Door sweeps: Although door sweeps are primarily used for sealing gaps at the bottom of exterior doors, they can also be used to seal gaps at the bottom of casement windows. Door sweeps consist of a rigid strip with a flexible material, such as rubber or vinyl, attached to the bottom edge. They are typically installed on the inside of the window.

4. Compression seals: Compression seals are made from a flexible material, such as foam or rubber, that is designed to compress when the window is closed, creating a tight seal. This type of weather stripping is typically installed along the sides and top of the window sash.

Installing Weather Stripping on Your Jeld-Wen Casement Windows

Now that you understand the benefits of weather stripping and the different types available, it's time to learn how to install it on your Jeld-Wen casement windows. Follow these steps to ensure a successful and effective installation:

1. Measure and clean: Before you begin, measure the perimeter of your window sash to determine how much weather stripping you will need. It's also important to clean the area where the weather stripping will be installed, as dirt and debris can prevent it from adhering properly.

2. Choose the right type: Based on your specific needs and preferences, choose the type of weather stripping that is best suited for your Jeld-Wen casement windows.

3. Cut to size: Using a utility knife or scissors, cut the weather stripping to the appropriate length, based on your measurements.

4. Install: Depending on the type of weather stripping you've chosen, the installation process may vary slightly. For adhesive-backed foam tape, simply remove the backing and press the tape firmly into place along the sides and top of the window sash. For V-strip, door sweeps, and compression seals, you may need to use nails, screws, or adhesive to secure the weather stripping in place.

5. Test: After the weather stripping has been installed, close your window to ensure that it forms a tight seal. You may need to make adjustments or trim the weather stripping for a perfect fit.

By following this guide, you'll be well on your way to a more energy-efficient, comfortable, and protected home. Weather stripping your Jeld-Wen casement windows is a simple and cost-effective way to improve the overall performance of your windows and ensure that they stand up to the elements for years to come. INSPIRATION & SOLUTION

This newly built private house is in Sydney, Australia. The area occupied by the fenestration system in our scheduled design drawings was up to more than 110 square meters. A wide range of design details made the perfect mix of modern aesthetics and traditional sophistication, the simulated vertical hung windows with tilt & turn opening systems in this home are absolutely breathtaking. SDLS (Simulated Divided Lites with Spacer Bar) brings some historical vintage feeling to the whole building without losing any energy saving performance. Long narrow fixed windows creating larger-than-life expenses, coupled with German high-end systems made this project stand out from the rest.

Simulated Hung Window with Tilt & Turn Openings

The client's idea was to maintain a certain vintage feel, and our aim was to meet the energy efficiency needs and standards of modern houses as much as possible while maintaining a retro design. Doorwin’s 61S simulated hung windows with tilt & turn openings is a respectful modernization of a classic architectural masterwork.

Why choose the tilt and turn opening method?

Because it generally has better air seals than sliding, single hung, or double hung window frames. Tilt and turn windows form a complete seal when fully closed, this means they are less prone to water leakage, and cold draughts and you’ll keep more of your heating indoors where it belongs. They can be opened in the upper tilt way to ventilate at a minimum opening status and are easy to clean outside of the glass; when there’s a good day, they can be opened as normal inward casement windows.

Large Energy Efficient Fixed Windows

Our well-crafted bespoke systems enhance the functionality and panoramic view of this modern house.

Huge, fixed glass walls up to seven meters long and two meters high bring great lighting and open views, making it really refreshing to the mind. Five meters high long narrow windows give the whole building a contemporary aesthetic.

Every window’s placement and shape not only add to the uniqueness of this home but also provide a more energy-saving ability for the owners.

Doorwin energy-efficient integrated glazing units feature double-pane glass, warm-edge spacers, argon gas fill, Low-E coatings, and fully tempered glass, they can not only create a comfortable and natural indoor environment but also save electricity bills and heating bills of more than 100 USD for the owner, it’s a real bargain compared to choosing a regular glazing set.
