Casement Window Dimensions: A Comprehensive Guide to Sizing and Styles

Casement windows are a popular choice for homeowners seeking to add style, functionality, and fresh air to their living spaces. Available in a variety of sizes and designs, these versatile windows can be customized to suit any home's architectural style. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore the various casement window dimensions in meters, discuss the different styles, and offer tips for selecting the perfect casement window for your home.

Standard Casement Window Sizes

While casement windows can be custom-made to fit any opening, there are some standard sizes that are commonly used in residential construction. These dimensions are typically measured in meters and are based on the width and height of the window opening. Some of the most common casement window sizes include:

0.6m x 1.2m (small)

0.9m x 1.2m (medium)

1.2m x 1.5m (large)

It's important to note that these are just general guidelines, and actual window sizes may vary depending on the manufacturer and specific product line. Always consult with a window professional to determine the best size for your particular needs.

Casement Window Styles

Casement windows are available in a wide range of styles, allowing homeowners to choose the perfect design for their home's aesthetic. Some of the most popular casement window styles include:

Single Casement

Single casement windows feature one sash that is hinged on one side and opens outward. This classic design is suitable for most architectural styles and offers excellent ventilation and unobstructed views.

Double Casement (French Casement)

Double casement windows, also known as French casement windows, consist of two sashes that are hinged on opposite sides and open outward. This design creates a large, unobstructed opening that allows for maximum ventilation and easy access to the outdoors.

Push-Out Casement

Push-out casement windows are operated by a handle that pushes the sash outward, rather than using a traditional crank mechanism. This design offers a sleek, modern look and is ideal for homeowners seeking a minimalist aesthetic.

Top-Hung Casement

Top-hung casement windows feature a sash that is hinged at the top and opens outward from the bottom. This design is ideal for situations where the window opening is located close to the ground or where an outward-opening sash may obstruct walkways or other outdoor features.

Custom Casement Window Options

In addition to the standard sizes and styles mentioned above, casement windows can be customized to suit any homeowner's preferences. Some popular custom options include:

Custom sizing: As mentioned earlier, casement windows can be made to fit any opening, allowing for maximum design flexibility.

Grille patterns: Decorative grilles can be added to casement windows to create a unique, visually appealing design. Grille patterns can be simple or intricate, depending on the desired look.

Glass options: Casement windows can be outfitted with various types of glass, including energy-efficient low-E glass, tinted glass, and decorative glass with patterns or textures.

Hardware finishes: Casement window hardware, such as handles and hinges, can be customized to match the style and finish of a home's existing hardware.

Color and finish options: Casement windows can be painted or stained in a wide range of colors and finishes, allowing homeowners to create a cohesive look throughout their home.

Tips for Selecting the Perfect Casement Window

When choosing casement window dimensions and styles, consider the following factors:

1. Architectural style: Select a casement window style that complements your home's architectural style. For example, a traditional single casement window may be a better fit for a classic colonial home, while a sleek push-out casement may be more suitable for a modern, minimalist design.

2. Functionality: Consider how the window will be used and what features are most important to you, such as ventilation, ease of operation, and access to the outdoors.

3. Energy efficiency: Look for casement windows with energy-efficient features, such as low-E glass and tight seals, to help reduce energy costs and keep your home comfortable year-round.

4. Maintenance: Some casement window styles, such as top-hung casements, may be more difficult to clean and maintain. Consider your willingness to perform regular maintenance when selecting a style.

5. Budget: Finally, consider your budget and choose a casement window that offers the best combination of style, functionality, and value for your specific needs.

In summary, casement window dimensions and styles can be tailored to suit any home's aesthetic and functional requirements. By considering factors such as architectural style, functionality, energy efficiency, maintenance, and budget, homeowners can select the perfect casement window that will enhance their living spaces for years to come.

INSPIRATION & SOLUTION

This newly built private house is in Sydney, Australia. The area occupied by the fenestration system in our scheduled design drawings was up to more than 110 square meters. A wide range of design details made the perfect mix of modern aesthetics and traditional sophistication, the simulated vertical hung windows with tilt & turn opening systems in this home are absolutely breathtaking. SDLS (Simulated Divided Lites with Spacer Bar) brings some historical vintage feeling to the whole building without losing any energy saving performance. Long narrow fixed windows creating larger-than-life expenses, coupled with German high-end systems made this project stand out from the rest.

Simulated Hung Window with Tilt & Turn Openings

The client's idea was to maintain a certain vintage feel, and our aim was to meet the energy efficiency needs and standards of modern houses as much as possible while maintaining a retro design. Doorwin’s 61S simulated hung windows with tilt & turn openings is a respectful modernization of a classic architectural masterwork.

Why choose the tilt and turn opening method?

Because it generally has better air seals than sliding, single hung, or double hung window frames. Tilt and turn windows form a complete seal when fully closed, this means they are less prone to water leakage, and cold draughts and you’ll keep more of your heating indoors where it belongs. They can be opened in the upper tilt way to ventilate at a minimum opening status and are easy to clean outside of the glass; when there’s a good day, they can be opened as normal inward casement windows.

Large Energy Efficient Fixed Windows

Our well-crafted bespoke systems enhance the functionality and panoramic view of this modern house.

Huge, fixed glass walls up to seven meters long and two meters high bring great lighting and open views, making it really refreshing to the mind. Five meters high long narrow windows give the whole building a contemporary aesthetic.

Every window’s placement and shape not only add to the uniqueness of this home but also provide a more energy-saving ability for the owners.

Doorwin energy-efficient integrated glazing units feature double-pane glass, warm-edge spacers, argon gas fill, Low-E coatings, and fully tempered glass, they can not only create a comfortable and natural indoor environment but also save electricity bills and heating bills of more than 100 USD for the owner, it’s a real bargain compared to choosing a regular glazing set.

Custom Designed Thermal Break Aluminum Entry Door

Aluminum Door offered an air of uniqueness and elegance to a home. With their luxurious patterns and beautiful finishes, it provides this house with a bounty of aesthetics and security. Aluminum entry doors allow you to resist any weather extremes, corrosion, and pests. So aluminum is one of the most resilient and durable materials you can select for front doors considering the price/performance ratio.

With pieces of double panes, and Low-E tempered glass. The door provides a good insulation performance.

Custom Designed Grilles and Transom

Doorwin provides multiple muntin and glass options to customize your divided lite windows and doors. Further customization is available with a variety of colors and materials, creating an infinite number of design combinations to best suit your style.

In this project, we use SDLS (simulated divided lites with spacer bars), these bars permanently adhere to both sides of the glass, and spacer bars are installed between the glass, this is the most energy-efficient way to create the look of classical décor grilles. The windows in the bathroom bedroom and study have an Arch Transom Design, making these rooms, which are often used by the owner, have some traditional aesthetics.
