How to Use a Flashing Tape on Your Door

I have several students who would like to learn how to put up flashing tape on their doors. I am going to show you a quick and easy way to fix your door flashing problems using what is called door flash tape

I am going to use this method for my example because it is simple, and it works well for me. You can also use this technique on any type of door, but lets start with the first step

Step 1: Grasp the edges of your door with both hands and push them together until they meet in the middle. The top edge should be flush with your doors surface, while the bottom edge should be flush with the bottom edge of your door frame (but not quite)

Step 2: Cut two pieces of flashing tape that are about 4 inches long by about 2 inches wide. You will want to cut them so that they are both long enough so that they can go across both sides of your door without being too long or too short. If you need more length then simply adjust one side until it is right where you want it. If you need less length then simply adjust one side until it is right where you want it. When cutting make sure that there are no pieces
