What is Casement Window Furniture?

These components can include handles, hinges, stays, locks, and decorative elements that not only serve a functional purpose but also add to the overall aesthetic appeal of your windows.

Handles are essential for opening and closing casement windows. They come in various designs, materials, and finishes to suit different styles and preferences. Some popular types of casement window handles include:

1. Crank Handles: These handles feature a rotating mechanism that makes opening and closing the window easy and smooth. They are available in folding and non-folding options.

1. Butt Hinges: These are the most common type of hinges used for casement windows. They are easy to install and provide a clean appearance.

2. Concealed Hinges: As the name suggests, concealed hinges are hidden from view when the window is closed. They offer a sleek and modern look.

3. Friction Hinges: These hinges allow you to control the opening angle of your casement window and hold it in place without the need for a stay. They are ideal for heavy or large windows.

Stays

Stays are used to hold casement windows open at a desired angle. They come in various styles and materials, including:

1. Peg Stays: These stays feature a peg that fits into holes on the window frame to hold the window open at different angles.

2. Telescopic Stays: These stays have an adjustable length, allowing you to control the opening angle of your window more precisely.

3. Friction Stays: As mentioned earlier, friction stays also serve as window stays by holding the window open at a desired angle without the need for additional hardware.

Locks

Locks are essential for securing your casement windows and protecting your home from intruders. Some common types of casement window locks include:

1. Espagnolette Locks: These multi-point locks provide enhanced security by engaging multiple locking points along the window frame.

2. Mortise Locks: Mortise locks are installed within the window frame and offer a high level of security.

3. Surface-Mounted Locks: These locks are mounted on the surface of the window frame and are easy to install.

Decorative Elements

To add a touch of elegance and personality to your casement windows, you can choose from various decorative elements such as:

1. Window Grilles: These decorative elements can be added to the glass or frame of your casement windows to create a unique and attractive design.

2. Finials: Finials are decorative pieces that can be added to the ends of casement window stays or handles to enhance their appearance.

3. Window Surrounds: Window surrounds are decorative frames that can be added to the exterior of your casement windows to create a more polished and refined look.

Tips for Choosing the Right Casement Window Furniture

1. Consider the Style of Your Home: Choose casement window furniture that complements the overall style and architecture of your home. For instance, if you have a traditional home, opt for classic designs and finishes, while modern homes may benefit from sleek and minimalist hardware.

2. Prioritize Functionality: While aesthetics are important, make sure the casement window furniture you choose is functional and easy to operate.

3. Choose High-Quality Materials: Opt for durable and high-quality materials that can withstand the test of time and resist wear and tear.

4. Coordinate Finishes: Ensure that the finish of your casement window furniture matches or complements other hardware and fixtures in your home for a cohesive look.

Maintaining Your Casement Window Furniture

To keep your casement window furniture looking and functioning at its best, follow these maintenance tips:

1. Clean Regularly: Wipe down your casement window furniture with a soft cloth and mild soap to remove dirt and grime. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or materials that can scratch or damage the finish.

2. Lubricate Moving Parts: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts of your casement window furniture, such as hinges and locks, to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.

3. Inspect and Tighten Hardware: Regularly inspect your casement window furniture for loose screws or damaged parts and tighten or replace them as needed.

By selecting the right casement window furniture and maintaining it properly, you can elevate the style and functionality of your casement windows, making them a beautiful and practical addition to your home.

INSPIRATION & SOLUTION

This newly built private house is in Sydney, Australia. The area occupied by the fenestration system in our scheduled design drawings was up to more than 110 square meters. A wide range of design details made the perfect mix of modern aesthetics and traditional sophistication, the simulated vertical hung windows with tilt & turn opening systems in this home are absolutely breathtaking. SDLS (Simulated Divided Lites with Spacer Bar) brings some historical vintage feeling to the whole building without losing any energy saving performance. Long narrow fixed windows creating larger-than-life expenses, coupled with German high-end systems made this project stand out from the rest.

Simulated Hung Window with Tilt & Turn Openings

The client's idea was to maintain a certain vintage feel, and our aim was to meet the energy efficiency needs and standards of modern houses as much as possible while maintaining a retro design. Doorwin’s 61S simulated hung windows with tilt & turn openings is a respectful modernization of a classic architectural masterwork.

Why choose the tilt and turn opening method?

Because it generally has better air seals than sliding, single hung, or double hung window frames. Tilt and turn windows form a complete seal when fully closed, this means they are less prone to water leakage, and cold draughts and you’ll keep more of your heating indoors where it belongs. They can be opened in the upper tilt way to ventilate at a minimum opening status and are easy to clean outside of the glass; when there’s a good day, they can be opened as normal inward casement windows.

Large Energy Efficient Fixed Windows

Our well-crafted bespoke systems enhance the functionality and panoramic view of this modern house.

Huge, fixed glass walls up to seven meters long and two meters high bring great lighting and open views, making it really refreshing to the mind. Five meters high long narrow windows give the whole building a contemporary aesthetic.

Every window’s placement and shape not only add to the uniqueness of this home but also provide a more energy-saving ability for the owners.

Doorwin energy-efficient integrated glazing units feature double-pane glass, warm-edge spacers, argon gas fill, Low-E coatings, and fully tempered glass, they can not only create a comfortable and natural indoor environment but also save electricity bills and heating bills of more than 100 USD for the owner, it’s a real bargain compared to choosing a regular glazing set.

Custom Designed Thermal Break Aluminum Entry Door

Aluminum Door offered an air of uniqueness and elegance to a home. With their luxurious patterns and beautiful finishes, it provides this house with a bounty of aesthetics and security. Aluminum entry doors allow you to resist any weather extremes, corrosion, and pests. So aluminum is one of the most resilient and durable materials you can select for front doors considering the price/performance ratio.

With pieces of double panes, and Low-E tempered glass. The door provides a good insulation performance.

Custom Designed Grilles and Transom

Divided lite windows and doors offer unique architectural solutions for buildings without compromising energy efficiency or aesthetics. Doorwin provides multiple muntin and glass options to customize your divided lite windows and doors. Further customization is available with a variety of colors and materials, creating an infinite number of design combinations to best suit your style.

In this project, we use SDLS (simulated divided lites with spacer bars), these bars permanently adhere to both sides of the glass, and spacer bars are installed between the glass, this is the most energy-efficient way to create the look of classical décor grilles. The windows in the bathroom bedroom and study have an Arch Transom Design, making these rooms, which are often used by the owner, have some traditional aesthetics.
